IT Manager

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Must be at least 18 years of age with a High School Diploma or a GED
  • 4year degree in computer science or related study and/or 6 years or more experience with project management and or business systems administration. Previous management experience in tribal government or casino gaming Preferred
  • Exceptional project management and team building skills
  • Thorough understanding of Vorex or related IT work order systems
  • Thorough understanding of the gaming and hospitality business and systems
  • Thorough understanding of TCP/IP, DCHP, DNS, WINS, and static IP addressing
  • Thorough understanding of Microsoft, Windows Server, and Exchange Server (MCP/MCSE).
  • Thorough understanding of Ethernet, fast Ethernet, gigabit, and ATM OC-3/OC-12 technologies.
  • Thorough understanding of network infrastructures. LAN, WAN, and VPN.
  • Thorough understanding of switches, routers, CSU's, and DSU's.
  • Knowledge of Internet firewall technologies
  • Knowledge of network wiring requirements
  • Knowledge on any other software report resource

JOB SUMMARY

The IT Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the IT Department and maintaining systems integrity for the tribe's network infrastructure and business systems. Leads by example. Maintains work schedules and planned absences of the staff. Prioritizes work orders with the IT Administrators with the focus on mission critical business systems. Works with other departmental managers to identify, test, implement and maintain systems and equipment; to make departmental operations more efficient. Assist the Director of IT with project management on capital projects.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Primary contact for day to day IT
  • Supervise and evaluate respective IT Administrators, and Technicians, completing monthly progress reports and annual employee performance evaluations
  • Maintain an effective training program for the staff to keep up on emerging technologies
  • Assist in problem diagnosis and resolution
  • Maintain tracking of all IT issues and resolutions, providing statistical reports to the appropriate department manager or Director of IT
  • Maintain documentation of all software licenses and hardware warranties
  • Perform weekly and monthly department Highlighting new Tribal, EDC, LLC or IT policies.
  • Document periodic disaster recovery tests, by restoring data from random backups
  • Provide statistical reports concerning all IT staff and systems to the Director of IT
  • Solicit, interview and test prospective IT candidates
  • Liaison with contractors and vendors concerning all aspects of the tribe's infrastructure, software or hardware systems
  • Provide computer audit reports to the appropriate department manager and Director of IT
  • Review new business systems strategies with the appropriate department manager and Director of
  • Work with Director of IT for the creation, implementation and maintenance of IT "Standards and Operating Procedures", budget development, and the annual strategic report
  • Aligning IT infrastructure with current and future business requirements and goals.

OTHER NECESSARY SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must possess excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate both verbally, and in written form. Ability to interact well with the existing management team by being a good listener, a team builder and an articulate advocate of the GTB/EDC IT visions. Must be a team player with a positive attitude. Must be highly organized and able to handle multiple tasks at one time. Must be able to complete tasks and projects in a timely manner by prioritizing obligations and time. Must possess the ability to work with various personalities while maintaining impartiality. Must respond to supervisory guidance and assignments and accept constructive criticisms in order to learn new, updated information. The needs for quickness and ease of adjustment to the work environment and flexibility to change are essential in this position.

Computer, printer, copier, Multi-line telephone and fax.


DRIVING REQUIREMENTS

Must have a valid, Michigan driver's license and be insurable by the Tribe


TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be physically able to operate a variety of job-related machines and/or office equipment. Must be able to move or carry job-related objects or materials exceeding 50 lbs.


TYPICAL MENTAL DEMANDS

Must be able to effectively handle stressful and compromising situations while remaining focused and professional. Must be able to deal with difficult people without losing perspective. Must be able to work productively under strict time restraints with variable deadlines.


WORKING CONDITIONS

Must be able and willing to work in a crowded, loud smoking environment. Must be able to handle being under constant surveillance. May be required to work in a confined space. Must practice all safety policies, procedures and standards as set by OSHA. Some travel may be required for the needs of the business or for further training regarding the department or the business. Use of personal vehicle will be required for job and employee must be insurable by the company.


COMMENTS

Native American and Tribal Preference will apply. Must be able to pass a background investigation and a drug and alcohol urinalysis as a condition of employment. Must be able to work flexible hours and to take on additional responsibilities when asked. Must adhere to company policies regarding strict confidentiality.
