Database Marketing Specialist

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Information Technology or related field and one (1) year of experience with casino database marketing systems;

OR,

Associate's Degree in Marketing, Business, Information Technology or related field and three (3) years of experience with casino database marketing systems;

OR,

Five (5) years of experience with casino database marketing systems

SUMMARY

The Database Marketing Specialist is responsible for the management of direct marketing database quality in relationship to incoming source systems and outgoing programs data. As part of these duties, he/she will provide analysis to assist in the development of segmentation, preparation of pro- and post- forma reports to obtain return on investment (ROI) of all database marketing programs. In addition, he/she will be expected to recommend marketing strategies, execute all direct mail programs-including but not limited to US Postal mail and e-mail-and be responsible for departmental budgeting.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Review programs and offers for accuracy across all systems with Database Analyst.
• Recommend guest segmentations to optimize revenue and decrease expenses
• Assess performance of database offers, communicate the findings and provide recommendations by tracking the response rate and ROI of offers
• Participate in development of annual projections, budgets, and re-forecasts in coordination with all Marketing Team Members.
• Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with the marketing, management, and executive teams to plan, develop, and execute all database marketing programs
• Prepare monthly reports regarding the success/challenges of each of the programs and recommend improvements.
• Investigate and resolve direct mail customer questions and complaints.
• Prepare & distribute "Database Marketing Promotion Fact Sheets" to all departments.
• Work with the Digital Marketing Coordinator to develop and implement internet/email based direct mail advertising campaigns.
• Conduct client or market surveys to obtain information on current and potential guest preferences to determine focus of sales efforts.
• Ensure the safety and confidentiality of data and financial information.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

• Critical thinking and ability to work independently
• Expert understanding of direct marketing across all media channels from marketing strategy through creative development into implementation and analysis
• Strong analytic skills and an ability to synthesize and explain complex data, including financial analysis, modeling, and testing matrices
• Maintain client-service focus with an ability to influence the decision makers in the company
• Ability to handle multiple programs/offers/versions
• Strong project management skills
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Exceptional working knowledge and use of all Microsoft products
• Exceptional working knowledge and use of Apple Mac products
• Exceptional working knowledge of Access
• Knowledge of casino/player tracking systems including report writing and extraction of data to various formats
• Experience in understanding guest behavior and understanding the financial effects from the programs
• Experience in working with relational databases (preferred)
• Strong mathematical skills
• Strong computer skills

DRIVING REQUIREMENTS

Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable under the Tribe's insurance carrier.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBLITIES

Position has no supervisory responsibilities.

EQUIPMENT TO BE USED

Copier, Fax, Computer, Multi-line Telephone System and other general office equipment.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS

May be required to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally. Be able to stand and/or walk for extended periods. May also be required to reach, bend, stretch, kneel, crawl, lift and carry.

TYPICAL MENTAL DEMANDS

Must be able to effectively handle stressful and compromising situations while remaining focused and professional. Must be able to deal with difficult people without losing perspective. Must be able to work productively under strict time restraints.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work performed is in both a smoking and non-smoking environment. Position may require occasional evenings, weekends and holidays. May be required to work over 40 hours per week. Must adhere to all company policies.

COMMENTS

Tribal and Native American Preference will apply. Must be able to pass a background investigation and a drug and alcohol test as a condition of employment. Must be able to work flexible hours and to take on additional responsibilities when asked. Must adhere to company policies regarding strict confidentiality.
